DuperTrooper
DuperTrooper compares selected files and emails on your computer (File-Scan) with other files on
your computer and performs a phrase by phrase matching between them.
It is designed to detect intentional and unintentional duplication between files.
Most popular document file formats are supported.
DuperTrooper can also search the Internet (Web-Scan) for each phrase found in files.
It provides information on websites where matches have been found.
DuperTrooper provides a powerful range of options for detecting plagiarism and
other forms of duplication, including support for many many different file-types,
MS Outlook support, fuzzy/inexact text matching, and scan report production.
Three levels of scanning are provided, A QUICK SCAN searches for occurrences of identical phrases in files.
The INTERMEDIATE and DEEP scans provide fuzzy searching of files, and can detect evidence of plagiarism
or duplication even where there are significant differences in phrases.
Sophisticated algorithms are used to facilitate extremely fast scanning.
The File-Scan option is fast! Typically, for a list of (say) 100 files on a local hard disk,
a comparison of every phrase in every file with every phrase in every other file
can be expected to take less than 30 seconds (Quick Scan).
For deeper level scanning where one of the inexact phrase matching options has been selected (Intermediate, or Deep Scan), these times are longer. Nevertheless, where a small set of average sized files have been selected, DuperTrooper will normally do a complete scan in a very short amount of time, even when Deep Scan is selected.
DuperTrooper can also scan very large sets of files.
A scan of one thousand files will take longer than a scan of one hundred files.
It should be borne in mind that DuperTrooper matches each and every phrase
in each and every file with each and every phrase in every other file selected.
The Web-Scan option also uses a phrase by phrase matching against resources on the web (URLs).
DuperTrooper typically takes around 30 seconds to perform a complete web-scan for each
file. (Quick Scan). Deeper level scanning takes longer.
Unlike other anti-plagiarism products on the market, DuperTrooper does
not require a database of files to be saved in an index database or project.
Dupertrooper runs directly on files. This potentially represents a considerable
saving on disk space usage.
DuperTrooper has a number of customisable settings, permitting the user to optimise
the scan process for Speed, or for Accuracy.
